Southampton

Well, this is going to be a short entry because I have a busy day today and I had a pretty boring week. Monday I met with my advisor and re-evaluated what I'm doing for my dissertation. I'm now looking at bone points in general and trying to decifer if there are any definitions that go with the different types of categories of points. It appears that there aren't from what I've seen so far. So Monday night I emailed some museums that have large collections of bone tools to try to get permission to go and see them. That way I can really see what they look like and how polished they are and if there are cut marks or anything on them that you can't see in illustrations and written descriptions. The rest of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I spent in the library.

Tuesday night I had dinner with Sytske and her sister, who was visiting from The Netherlands. That was fun and a nice way to end the day since I had been in the library for hours.

Thursday I went to the library in Southampton. That was awesome! It is a real library with lots of books and journals in it, unlike the one at Bournemouth. It did have a crazy organization system though, not the dewey decimal system. I conquered it though and found almost everything that I needed. I even got done early enough to do a bit of shopping and found a really cute dress. Then I went to McDonald's for dinner and headed back to wait for the bus. But the bus didn't come. Eventually we heard that it was running 90 minutes late. And to top it off my ipod had broken, so I had nothing to distract me. I don't know what happened to it, I was just skipping a song and it froze. I couldn't turn it off or anything. So eventually another bus came that was going to Bournemouth and the driver took pity on us and let us on. Then from Bournemouth I had to take another bus back to Poole. I didn't get home until about 10:30. And I had left at 7am! That was about the longest day ever.

Friday I again libraried. Then in the afternoon I went to the beach with Melissa, who had just returned from London. That was nice. And I wore my SPF 50+ so I was safe :) Then we went to dinner in Bournemouth and returned home.

Yesterday I went shopping for clothes for Italy and a new phone. I figured that since I had some credit from my phone company to buy a new phone I would get a second one so that when Sara and my parents come to visit I can give them one just in case we get separated or anything. My new one is a touchscreen and is pretty neat-o! And it was pretty cheap because it is the company brand instead of a "real" brand. And I got it for really cheap because of the credit. I also got a couple tank tops, a skirt and a new dress. I still need shoes though, so I'm going this afternoon to Bournemouth to look for those. Then I'll be ready to vacation!

So that's been my week. Next week won't be much better. But then the next week I'm going to Wales, so that should be fun! There are no new pictures this week. Sorry :( Talk to you soon!
